Constrain To Component Align

Overview

Constrain To Component Align moves selected components to a base component origin and positions them so their coordinate systems align. Each component's origin planes are constrained to the base component's origin planes. This is useful for assemblies where multiple components share a coordinate system and need to be precisely overlaid, such as duct supports and duct fittings.

How It Works

  1. Select the base component and one or more components to align.
  2. The command moves and rotates each selected component so its origin planes match the base component's origin planes.
  3. All coordinate systems are aligned, and constraints are applied to maintain the alignment.

Usage Instructions

  1. Open the assembly containing the components.
  2. Select the base component and the components to align.
  3. Click the Constrain To Component Align button in the Configure panel.
  4. Review the alignment and constraints in the assembly.

Troubleshooting

  1. If components do not align as expected, verify that their origin planes are correctly defined.
  2. Check for existing constraints that may interfere with alignment.
  3. Ensure the correct base component is selected.

Examples

  1. Align a duct support to a duct fitting: Select both components and use the command to overlay their coordinate systems.
  2. Align multiple brackets to a base plate: Select the base plate and all brackets, then run the command to align them.
